- For any pregnant lady planning a vaginal delivery from 34 weeks gestation - new or subsequent pregnancies alike.
- 60mins face to face appt with a chartered pelvic health physiotherapist
- Have your alignment and movement of your pelvis checked - symmetry & optimal movement is thought to aid pelvic outlet during delivery (ie optimise the space for a smooth delivery
- Address any pains and niggles eg PGP and/or low back pain so you go into your labour feeling more rested, relaxed and confident
- Teach you (and your partner if wanted) how to do effective perineal massage - proven to result in; reducing your risk of episiotomy or perineal tears (especially 3rd or 4th degree), better wound healing, less perineal pain, reduces the length of pushing phase (stage 2) of labour & reduces the risk of bowel incontinence
- Answer any questions around birth & delivery eg positions etc
- Pelvic floor muscle check to ensure correct technique, strength, flexibility and control - crucial for addressing any/reducing chance of leaks or prolapse
- Advice re: immediate postnatal period and what you can do to optimise recovery in the early days and weeks
- Option to return for subsequent perineal massage sessions if desired (charged at usual follow up cost)
