Despite this being my second baby and again a straight forward delivery, I still desperately needed someone to tell me I was ok. Helen gave me the confidence I needed that my recovery was on track and I really felt she listened to my worries and dealt with them all in such a calm and easy manner that even in that newborn exhaustion I walked away feeling so much better about myself it was worth every penny.

Helen has been extremely helpful in getting me through my postpartum journey. She is very knowledgeable and can also answer the stream of questions I have whenever we meet! I had come to her after seeing a different PT and I am so happy that I did, I don’t think I would have progressed as I have done to date. Helen is empathic, will listen and encourage you along your journey, which is so important! If you feel helpless or lost about what to do to help yourself, book an appointment with Helen, she will set you on the right track!

January 2020

I’m so grateful for all your have done to help me over these past few years, by allowing me so much time away from the pain so that I can enjoy life to the full again. I can’t bear to think back to those first few acute months of continuous unrelenting burning and discomfort, sometimes so sharp it was like a knife!  I didn’t know what to do or where to go to for help until I found you at the clinic.  You were the only person who understood what I was talking about and knew how to help me (my GP and Gynaecologist were useless and just suggested an operation!) and I will always be eternally grateful to you as you not only gave me hope at the outset but you also gave me my life back again!  I remember you explaining to me at the beginning how we all hold stress in our bodies in different ways and different places and for me it has obviously been my poor Pelvic area!  Without you…and now Natalia, reducing and eliminating the tightness and spasm, I wouldn’t be in a fit place to address what is causing my body to convert stress and tension from my brain into physical pain.  When I get some early symptoms rearing their ugly head, I can now tell myself that I am safe, that there is nothing wrong with my pelvis (as you told me I have nothing structurally wrong there.  If you remember, I was concerned about prolapse, etc), that the pain does not need to be there…and by doing this (along with calming breathing) it actually really helps and the pain goes away!

Helen is an extraordinary pelvic floor physiotherapist with both the experience and the know-how as well as the human qualities.

Helen has supported me throughout many years, from improving my condition and symptoms to stabilising them, allowing me to return to my day to day activities. In additon, her unique treatment technique is essential to my pain management.

Helen also educated me around the pelvic floor which allowed me to make important adjustments. Her theoretical understanding was also useful to explaining my symptoms, diagnostic and treatment.

Helen is proactive and provides a holistic approach to treatment. She is very optimist yet realistic and celebrates with you every progress you make.

Helen helped me return to a happier and more normal life and find my balance as well as making peace with a condition I once struggled to come to terms with. I strongly recommend Helen.

July 2019

Thank you so much Helen for the great session. I didn’t know a post-pregnancy MOT existed, but I’m so glad I discovered it. My baby was born 14 months ago after a relatively straightforward pregnancy and birth, and while I had no obvious problems, I wanted to have my pelvic floor and stomach muscles assessed before thinking of another pregnancy. Helen put me at ease immediately, patiently answering all my questions. I walked out of the session feeling very reassured and educated on my pelvic floor!

Feb 2019

I booked in to see Helen for a pregnancy MOT because I was concerned about changes to my tummy muscles (a widening gap and some coning) in my second trimester, and unsure of the strength of my pelvic floor and core. I wasn’t clear on what exercises I should or could be doing at all, so was keen to get some clarity.

The pregnancy MOT was exactly what I needed. Helen talked through everything with me in clear and simple terms. She was really thorough and able to answer any questions I had big or small. She explained really well how everything links together, and how and why I might be seeing certain changes to my body, which was incredibly helpful (and really interesting!)

Helen tested my pelvic floor while I was there which was well worth doing. I left the appointment with peace of mind and feeling much more in control and confident about my pregnancy and the changes to my body.

If you have any issues, complications or even just some unanswered questions and concerns about your pregnancy, I couldn’t recommend Helen enough. She was fab.

January 2019

Just wanted to let you know I’ve done a short Santa run with my little girl and a Christmas Eve jog with my family and all was ok!!! Thank you so much for your help getting my body back in balance – I can’t tell you how good that feels so just wanted to say a really big thank you!

December 2018

Helen has been absolutely vital in my post-natal recoveries after 2 difficult pregnancies and deliveries. I benefited greatly from her expertise and care in diagnosing and treating pelvic pain, pelvic instability, and back pain. She has been a godsend in the road back to full recovery and return to exercise. A post-natal MOT with Helen is a must for any expecting mum: more vital than any item on baby’s nursery list!

December 2018

I visited Helen recently for a Pregnancy MOT. I am 6 weeks pregnant & have been doing Crossfit for over 2 years. I didn’t know if I can continue doing this and wanted to know more about pelvic floor health. I have a friend who had a baby last year and when she heard I’m pregnant the first thing she said was “Make sure you do your pelvic floor exercises ASAP, I wish I would do them during pregnancy”. That made me think it must be important, because I know how much problems my friend had after she gave birth. I decided to see Helen for her Pregnancy MOT, to make sure I know everything I should about pelvic floor and that I am doing my pelvic floor exercises correctly.

I booked an appointment easily through Helen’s website. She meet me with a smile and invited me to the therapy room. We had a long conversation about my medical history, actual concerns and expectations. Then Helen explained to me what the pelvic floor muscles do, why it’s so important to exercise them and how to do it. She asked me if I want her to examine me regarding pelvic alignment/movements and then pelvic floor muscles so she can correct me if I’m doing something wrong. That was exactly what I needed because I wasn’t sure if my technique is correct. The whole appointment was very professional and nice experience. My dignity was protected the whole time and I didn’t feel uncomfortable at any point.

I feel I confidently know what I should do now. I know the importance of doing pelvic floor exercises and importantly I now know HOW to do them correctly. I was reassured that my physical activity levels are safe when pregnant and I even got some recommendations for gym clothes for expecting mothers.

I think it’s important for everyone to have this bag of information from Helen, so you can be safe, healthy and enjoy your baby. And to be able to say “I did everything I could to protect my health”.

October 2018

When I began my treatment with Helen I was coming up to 4 years post baby 2. Under treatment from a previous physio, I had addressed some occasional stress incontinence and made good improvements to my diastasis recti. However, I still had an area around my bellybutton which was soft, squishy and unable to generate tension. When I crunched up, this would bulge. Going into double table top position, with both legs lifted off the floor, knees bent, was impossible. This made me very self-conscious in my work as a personal trainer because, while coaching clients through various progressions of core exercise, I was aware that I myself was unable to do precisely what I was trying to get them to.

My main concern before starting treatment was that Helen wouldn’t be able to help me improve my diastasis and that I would forever have to modify certain exercises and avoid certain positions. Within a few minutes of examining my abdomen, though, and observing the coordination of my core, Helen confidently declared that we would definitely be able to get it better. And her confidence was infectious!

Treatment with Helen has been so enjoyable, because she fills you with confidence that you can overcome your dysfunction and get to where you want to be. When you’re feeling a bit deflated that your body isn’t doing what you need and want it to do, this is enormously empowering. At the time of writing I have had three sessions with Helen and, already, my diastasis is SO much more functional. With just 15 repetitions of one exercise to do morning and night – easy peasy to it around my work and family life – I am for the first time, since pre-babies, able to get good tension in the bellybutton area; no more squidginess! Helen modestly says, “It’s easy when you know how” but this massively plays down the breadth of her clinical experience and ability to communicate in a way that makes it easy for you to ‘get it’, like a massive penny dropping.

The one best result I’ve gained from treatment is the feeling of strength that comes from having a core unit which is coordinating effectively. For me, this was not about aesthetics, but about getting functional. My husband keeps catching me touching my bellybutton because it really does feel too good to be true! Thank you, Helen.
